Dalam artikel ini, kita akan melihat penggunaan kata kerja simple present tense. Tenses ini sering ditemukan dalam kalimat-kalimat bahasa Inggris. Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan hal atau sesuatu yang menjadi kebiasaan, peristiwa saat ini atau fakta umum.
Marilah kita lihat beberapa contoh penggunaan simple present tense :

Adapun aturan penggunaan subjek dalam simple present tense adalah :
- I/We/You/They menggunakan kata kerja bentuk biasa atau kata kerja pertama
- He/She/It menggunakan kata kerja pertama + s/es/ies
Contoh :
- I work in a bank. My sister works in a shop.
- Jack lives in Liverpool. His parents live in Indonesia.
- I have two brothers. She has one brother.
Contoh Kalimat Simple Present Tense :
- I like oranges
- The office open at 8 o’clock and close at 4.30
- John works very hard. He starts at 7.30 in the morning and finishes at 7.30 in the evening
- She loves reading novel
- He runs every afternoon
- Mr. Joko teaches English
- Mr. Widodo has an English book
- Jeff likes his job
- She looks wonderful
- The students ring the doorbell
- Jeremy comes to school on time
- Henry and Emily come to school on time
- The cat sleeps on the sofa every day

Selanjutnya, present simple juga sering ditambahkan dengan always, never, often, sometimes dan usually. Berikut adalah contoh pemakaiannya :
- Linda always reads the newspaper in the morning
- I usually go to work by motor cycle but sometimes I go by car
- Victoria never eats dinner
- We often talk to Mr. Sugeng
- He plays the guitar
